Termites crave Moisture

From the heavy rains here in texas to Louisiana there is an abundant supply of rain these days, pouring into the southern part of the country. The Subterranean Termite loves moisture and often times will become more active because of it. You can do a termite investigation yourself with some of the tips I am going to give you about identifying your termite infestation or you can contact Gulf Coast Pest Control today for a termite inspection. ( 281-342-7378 )

How can I identify a Termite problem?

A brief swarmming of winged termites in your home around windows, doors or other areas of the house that has light coming through. They originate from the soil under or around your home. They can crawl very fast along the ground often times attached to one another. The termites are attempting to mate. Some of the nest mate termites will turn black , grow wings and swarm in the Springtime.

  • If you have cracked or bubbling paint on walls or baseboards, that can be an indicator of current or previous termite infestation.

  • If wood sounds hollow when you tap on it.

  • Shelter tubes / mud tubes on interior or exterior walls of the structure. These will be used by subterranean termites to get from their underground nest to the softwoods of your home or business.

  • Discarded wings from swarmer termites along the floor at windows, doors, or other lighted areas of the home or business. Unlike ants who have different sized wings. Termite wings will be identical in length. Termites have 2 sets of wings that are generally 2 times their body size.

  • Termites have straight bodies with no segmented body parts, ie: waist.

Real Estate Termite Inspection

Hello from GCPC A Houston Texas Termite Specialist. When you are buying a new home in the Houston area or just about anywhere in America the mortgage companies will usually require a clear WDI report (Wood Destroying Insect Report). There has been a rise in home refinancing, so termite inspections have also risen on that end as well. The lenders consider them like buying a new home and require a termite Inspection. This can be a pain for the homeowner because we have to write up conducive conditions and obstructions. Obviously we have to write up any active or previous termite, carpenter ant or any other wood destrying Insect activity found. This can be a danting drawback to the refinance process. We also take into consideration when inspecting a home that someone already lives there. Somethings you can just tell them to trimming foliage, move wood piles, those type of things. There is no need to tie up a closing when the conducive condition can be easily corrected at the time of the inspection. For tips about conducive condition  visit  http://www.gulfcoastpestcontrol.net/realestate.html
